Most organisations
have a requirement to use symbols of some sort within their
documents, whether it is a Visa symbol, a standard mark such
as a Quality Award or a custom symbol specific to an organisation.
Using these symbols on documents and in presentations has often
been a problem as the only method available in the past has
been to scan the symbol and use it as a bitmap. Bitmap images
are usually of poor quality and generally have large file sizes
that in turn can significantly increase document sizes.
By replacing your
bitmap images with TrueType fonts, the solution to all the
above problems is now at hand. TrueType fonts utilise the power
of TrueType that is already built in to all versions of Microsoft
Windows and the Apple Macintosh operating systems. Symbols
become easy to use, have little effect on file sizes and produce
extremely high quality output.

Ease of use
Your required symbols will be supplied as TrueType fonts
and from that time onwards, it is used in exactly the same
way as a standard typeface. It is installed as a TrueType font
and is then accessible to all applications that use TrueType
fonts via the Font menu.
Simply select your
symbol from the font list and type the character or characters
associated with the symbol. The symbol will be displayed on
screen and you can change the size to suit your requirement.

Smaller document
sizes
Adding a TrueType symbol to your document will increase
the file size by just a small number of bytes. Compare this
with the addition of a bitmap image that can easily increase
the file size by many thousands of bytes and often in excess
of 100KB.

High quality
TrueType fonts are not bitmap images, they are actually
drawn from a mathematically calculated outline which can be
scaled to any size with no loss of quality. Therefore your
symbol can be scaled to any size supported by your application
and will produce the highest quality image on your selected
output device.
